Planters
Hedya Design’s planter collection is a range of handmade, 3D-printed plant pots designed and produced in our Chicago studio. Each planter is printed to order from PLA — a plant-based, biodegradable bioplastic — with built-in drainage to keep your plants healthy. Available in multiple sizes and colors, our planters suit succulents, herbs, and houseplants, indoors or out.
How to choose a planter
- Size: Planters come in 4", 5", 6", and 7" (nominal diameter). As a rule, choose a pot 1–2 inches wider than your plant’s current root ball so it has room to grow without sitting in excess soil.
- Finish: Pick the surface that fits your decor — Nova is smooth and modern, Tessora is textured and tactile, and Linea has bold linear ridges for an architectural look.
- Indoor vs. outdoor: All of our planters work indoors and out. For indoor use, add the optional matching drip tray (available on Nova and Tessora) to protect shelves and surfaces.
- Drainage: Every planter has built-in drainage holes, which prevent overwatering and root rot — important for succulents and most houseplants.

Frequently asked questions
Do the planters have drainage?
Yes — every Hedya planter has built-in drainage holes. Nova and Tessora also offer an optional matching drip tray for indoor use.
Can I use them outdoors?
Yes. They’re suitable for balconies, patios, and gardens as well as indoor spaces. For long-term outdoor use, avoid leaving them in prolonged extreme heat, as the 3D-printed material can soften.
What are they made of?
3D-printed PLA, a plant-based, biodegradable bioplastic, printed to order in our Chicago studio.
What size planter do I need?
Choose a pot about 1–2 inches wider than your plant’s root ball. For small succulents and herbs, 4–5" is usually ideal; for larger houseplants, 6–7".
What’s the difference between Nova, Tessora, and Linea?
They share the same sizes, drainage, and PLA material — the difference is the surface: Nova is smooth, Tessora is textured, and Linea has linear ridges.
